After setting up your fund, you're ready to add investments to track their performance, manage ownership details, and organize important documents. From your fund's dashboard, click the + Create Company button in the top right corner.

Create a New Company
This option allows you to add a new company to your fund from scratch. The process is divided into five sections to capture all the essential details about the investment.
1. Basic Information
This is where you'll enter the foundational details about the company.
Company name: The official name of the company.
Company description: A brief description of the company and what it does.
Company website: The company's official website.
LinkedIn: The company's LinkedIn profile URL.
Company Health: A dropdown menu to select the company's current health status (e.g., Thriving, Stable, Struggling).

Here, you'll add information about the company's founders.
First name & Last name: The name of the founder.
Email: The founder's email address.
Role: The founder's role (e.g., CEO, CTO).
LinkedIn: The founder's LinkedIn profile URL.
You can add multiple founders by clicking Add New Founder. You can also designate a Primary Contact by using the toggle switch next to their name.

This section is for documenting the financial aspects of your investment.
Entry round: The funding round at which your firm invested.
Investment date: The date of the investment.
Amount invested: The total amount of capital your firm invested.
Post-Money Valuation: The company's valuation after your investment.
Current information: If the company has raised another round since your initial investment, you can update its Current round and Post-Money Valuation.

Specify the company's country of operation.
Country: Select the country from the dropdown menu.
5. Document Upload
This final section allows you to upload important documents related to the investment.
Pitch deck (maximum 5MB): Upload the company's pitch deck.
Legal Documents (maximum 5MB): Upload relevant legal files.
Other Documents (maximum 5MB): Upload any other supporting documents.

Import an Existing Portfolio
If you're migrating an existing Investment data from another platform onto the Covalent platform, Atlas makes the process smooth and straightforward. You can get started by importing your data directly from a file.
To begin, click the + Create Company button, and select Import existing Portfolio.

1. Upload Your File
To ensure a seamless migration, we provide a file template for you to use. For best results, download the sample file and copy your data into the appropriate columns. You can also add extra columns to accommodate all your data. The Covalent platform is designed to handle all your information, so no data is lost during the process.
Default template fields include:
- Company Name
- Company description
- Company website
- Country
- Region
- Current Investment round
- Current Post Money Valuation
- Amount Invested
- Entry Investment Date
- Entry Investment round
- Entry Post Money Valuation
- Industry
- CEO Email
- CEO LinkedIn
- CEO Name

2. Clean and Prepare Your Data
Before you upload, it's essential to clean and prepare your data to match the Covalent platform's standardized taxonomies. This ensures accuracy and consistency.
Covalent Taxonomies To keep your data clean and interoperable across the platform, we standardize on a set of taxonomies. Below is how each taxonomy is presented and how you should use them when filling templates or uploading data.
Countries: Covalent supports all ISO-3166 countries (200+).
Regions: These are higher-level groupings of countries. These are the regions: Asia, Europe, Africa, Oceania, Americas, Antarctic.
Investment rounds: Pre-seed, Seed, Series A, Series B, Series C, Series D, Series E, Series F, Series G, Series H, Series I, Series J, Series K, Series L.
Industry: We currently support ~58 industries.
Date Format: DD/MM/YYYY
We advise you to take some time to do this cleanup to maximize the Atlas platform and reduce errors you might face while importing your data. A simple way to do this is to make a copy our complete list and correct your data to match our naming conventions. You do this by clicking on the link below and then File and then "Make a copy" on Google sheet.

3. Map and Validate Your Data
Once your file is uploaded, Covalent will validate your data. This process may take a few minutes for larger files, so please remain on the page until it's complete.
After validation, you'll need to map your imported columns to the corresponding fields in our database.
Map Fields: Review and confirm each field mapping to ensure your data is correctly aligned.

While our AI automates much of this process, we strongly advise you to manually review every field to ensure accuracy.
Once your review is complete, click Proceed to preview.
4. Review and Save
You'll now see a table containing all your imported data. Review it carefully to ensure everything looks correct. If you're satisfied, click Complete to finish the import process.

Once these steps are complete, you'll be directed to your investments Overview dashboard.

This page provides a high-level summary of your investment metrics and a detailed table of each portfolio company. You can scroll horizontally to view additional metrics and information for each investment.
